The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) said that around January 24 underestimated the power of the solar storm hitting the earth. The agency said on Monday that the storm was the biggest since May 2005 when a similar event reached 3,000 PFU (abbreviation for proton flow units, used to measure the radiation energy of this type of event) . However, on Tuesday, the NOAA instruments recorded as 6,300 PFU ,the largest solar radiation storm since October 2003.

The intense solar radiation can cause problems for earth satellites, in addition to being an inconvenience to the astronauts. This is the season of more intense storms since September 2005. The eruption, which began on Sunday, must send particles up to Wednesday.

"Due to this phenomenon, it is almost certain that there will be a geomagnetic storm (disturbances in the earth's geomagnetic field caused by solar flare)," NOAA said in a statement Monday. "The associated solar flare reached its maximum height on January
23," he added. A computer model made by the Forecast Center shows that this wave of the storm will have the greatest effect on the earth's magnetic field on Tuesday.
