The space agency announced that they had found two planets, each about the same size as earth, orbiting a star about 1,000 light years away. 20e and 20f Kepler, 0.87 and 1.03 times the size of earth, respectively, are the smallest exoplanet ever found.
Unfortunately, size is not the only factor to find habitable planets. The two planets Kepler, who are part of a five-star system on the planet, are very close to its sun to support life as we know it. Our best bet to find ET's planet is still Christmas, a larger body in which astronomers call the "Goldilocks zone", because the planet is at a distance from its star where no too cold or too hot for life to exist.
