It is easy to steal credit card numbers used for Xbox 360

Security experts say it is very easy to steal information from a used Xbox 360, even if the owner has restored the factory settings.

Xbox 360

According to Kotaku, selling an Xbox 360 may have contraindications dangerous, unless you remove the hard drive before doing so.

Drexel University researchers claim to restore the console to factory settings does not delete the user's personal data. Thus, with a common set of tools, hackers and modders can extract personal information such as credit card numbers and other.

After buying a used Xbox 360, the researchers downloaded a basic modding tool and used it to access files and folders from the operating system. After some research, they found the previous owner's personal information, including credit card.

Ashley Podhradsky says the Xbox and Microsoft are doing a disservice to consumers by failing to protect personal information. "Microsoft does a great job when it comes to protecting your proprietary information, but does a bad job with regard to protecting user data."

To avoid these problems, researchers recommend removing the hard drive and connect the Xbox 360 to a PC in order to use a software able to permanently delete all information. Only then is it advisable to sell the console.

Paper by FiftyThree,free download

What is missing is not "but." As is increasingly common, the application is free, but the most interesting features are paid. And well paid! Each "tool" of writing - pens and pencils - costs 1.59 euros. In practice, this application only becomes interesting when you get the Essentials package (€ 5.99), which includes tools Draw, Sketch, Outline, Write, and Color. And yet many options as layers or export to PDF or Dropbox. Adobe Ideas (€ 7.99) seems to us even a more powerful tool for those looking for a creative solution for notes.
